Mr. Cory Childress

My name is Cory Childress and I am a Health and Physical Education Teacher here at Hickory Ridge High School. This will be my 8th year in Cabarrus County Schools and my 7th year at HRHS after working as an Elementary School PE Teacher my first year in the county. Along with teaching Health and Physical Education here at HRHS, I serve as an Assistant Baseball Coach and I also serve as an Assistant Football Coach (Quarterbacks Coach) and the Head J.V. Baseball Coach. I am also an Assistant Coach for Concord Post 51 Senior Legion Baseball during the summer.

I am originally from the small town of Yadkinville, North Carolina where I attended Starmount High School located in Yadkin County. Before coming to Cabarrus County to begin my teaching career, I attended Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina where I graduated in 2009 with my Bachelor's of Science Degree in Health and Physical Education, K-12. I also have a twin brother, Elliott, who is a Middle School Health and PE Teacher in Trinity, North Carolina.

A few of my hobbies include working out, running, coaching, playing golf, spending time with my family and friends, going to my family beach house, reading, watching Netflix, and watching any of my favorite sports teams which include the Carolina Panthers, North Carolina Tar Heels, Appalachian State Mountaineers, Charlotte Hornets, and Atlanta Braves.
