Welcome to Winecoff STEM Elementary! This will be my 20th year teaching in Cabarrus County Schools. I am your child's Innovation Enrichment Teacher/Librarian at Winecoff's iHub!
In 2000, I received my Bachelor of Science in English Literature with a minor in Elementary Education at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. I also completed my Masters of Science in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Tennessee, before starting my first year of teaching. After a few years of teaching, I was invited to be a part of the NC State Improvement Team, at the time a groundbreaking endeavor called Foundations in Literacy. I was one of the very first regular education teachers to be trained and implement these practices in my classroom.
In 2006, I achieved my National Board Certification, and continues to support this process, as I read entries for certification and renewal. As a future goal, I would like to pursue a Masters degree in Library and Information Studies. This past school year, I renewed this certification in order to stay current in my practice.
This year, I will be starting my Library Science Master's Degree from the University of North Carolina Greensboro. I am excited to learn more about how to grow readers and build an amazing collection of books for your student.
I am married to my wonderful husband, Tyson. I am bonus-mom to the most amazing, interesting, funny kid, Channing. I enjoy reading, playing games, cooking, and traveling.
