Principal: Andrew Crook
Mr. Crook graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1993 with a B.A. in English. In 1998, Mr. Crook graduated from Wake Forest University with a Masters of Arts in Education. Mr. Crook entered the teaching profession as an English teacher in 1993. He worked in South Carolina, Rowan-Salisbury Schools, and Wake County Public Schools before teaching in Cabarrus County. From 2002-2007, Mr. Crook taught English at Central Cabarrus High School. He taught English at Hickory Ridge High School from 2007-2010. He earned is Administrative Licensure from Wingate University in 2009 and returned to Central Cabarrus High School in 2010 as the Assistant Principal of Instruction. In 2014, he assumed the role of Principal at Central Cabarrus. Mr. Crook and his wife Liliana have two dogs, Bella and Pacino. Mr. Crook enjoys spending time with his family, reading, watching movies, traveling (especially to Peru, his wife’s home country), playing golf, and cheering on the UNC Tarheels.Assistant Principal of Instruction: Mark LowryMr. Lowry graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2005 with a B.S. in Middle Grades Education and entered the teaching profession as a Mathematics teacher at J.M. Alexander Middle School, where he taught from 2006-2009. Mr. Lowry entered the Educational Leadership program at UNCC in 2009 and received his Masters in School Administration from The University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2011. Mr. Lowry was a Principal Intern at Cox Mill High for the 2010-2011 School Year. In 2011 Mr. Lowry became an Assistant Principal at Cox Mill High School. Mr. Lowry and his wife Cherie have two children, Charleston (Charlie) and Whitaker (Whit). Mr. Lowry enjoys spending his free time with his family, running, and cheering on the Carolina Panthers.

Mrs. Shomaker grew up in Charlottesville, Virginia and graduated from Bridgewater College with a B.S. in Education. While attending Bridgewater, Mrs. Shomaker played basketball and lacrosse. After teaching Health and Physical Education and coaching for fifteen years, Mrs. Shomaker earned her Master’s in Administration and Leadership from Shenandoah University. Mrs. Shomaker was an assistant principal at Stewart Middle School in Augusta County and then at Central Cabarrus High School in Cabarrus County before moving to Singapore. After three years living abroad, Mrs. Shomaker rejoined the Cabarrus County Family and served as assistant principal at Harris Road Middle School before joining Cox Mill. Mrs. Shomaker is excited to be back in high school working with the staff and students at Cox Mill. Mrs. Shomaker lives at Lake Norman with her husband, Bo, and dog, Finn. She is an avid paddle boarder and runner.Assistant Principal: Deborah Walker
Mrs. Walker graduated from East Carolina University with a BS in Early Childhood Education, holds a Master’s in Human Development and Learning from UNC-Charlotte, and an Advanced Educational Leadership Degree from Nova Southeastern University. She also holds an Intermediate Education Certification, an Administrative Certification, and a Special Education Director Certification. Mrs. Walker worked for Kannapolis City Schools for eight years as an Elementary and Middle School teacher; and for ten years as Curriculum Coordinator, Co-Director for Title I Federal Programs, and Observer/Evaluator. She was Assistant Principal at South Charlotte Middle School in Charlotte-Mecklenburg for four years. Mrs. Walker previously served as Assistant Principal for five years at two high schools in Cabarrus County and for three years as Assistant Director of the Exceptional Children’s Program for Cabarrus County Schools. During early retirement, she also held interim positions as Principal and/or Assistant Principal at five schools in Cabarrus County. She served for four years as Assistant Principal of Instruction at Harris Road Middle School and for four and one-half years as Assistant Principal at Cox Mill High. Mrs. Walker has a son and three step-children. She enjoys spending her free time reading, and traveling with her husband.
