Class Expectations:
In 8th Grade Social Studies, students can expect to learn in depth information on the history of North Carolina and the United States after colonization.  Students will use the knowledge they gain on America's past to make themselves better people for today's society.  Students will be doing various hands-on projects during every unit using various methods of learning.  The goal of this class is to build student knowledge on North Carolina and the United States, develop student skills like advanced reading comprehension and writing ability and to create well-rounded citizens that are ready to take care of America's future.
My Biography:
I was born and raised in rural, northwest Ohio.  After graduating high school, I went to Ohio State (Go Bucks!), where I got my Bachelor's in Integrated Social Studies.  Once I finished undergrad, I left for Boston and completed my Master's degree in Teaching at Simmons College.  Here, I did my student teaching and a year of substitute teaching at Cambridge Rindge and Latin School.  In 2011, I accepted a Social Studies position at Hickory Ridge Middle School.  I live in Charlotte with my wife Jenn, and our pets Lily, Prim, Chip and Ollie.  I love Hickory Ridge and Harrisburg and I am proud to be a part of this great community!
