Mr. Jon LaChance, Principal
Mr. LaChance joined the Mount Pleasant staff in 2009. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in secondary education from SUNY Buffalo, and a Master of Arts degree in School Administration from UNC-Charlotte. Before joining Mount Pleasant, he spent 9 years teaching Social Studies at North Iredell High School in Olin, NC, Central Cabarrus High School, and Hickory Ridge High School. He has also coached; football and Softball.
Mr. LaChance is a native of Niagara Falls, NY. He is happily married to his wife, Lisa, and enjoys traveling & spending time with his daughter Olivia and son Elijah.

Mr. Lawrence Sullivan, Assistant Principal
Mr. Sullivan joined the Mount Pleasant staff in 2013. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in History & Geography in secondary education from Clemson University, and a Master of Arts degree in School Administration from UNC-Charlotte. Before joining Mount Pleasant, he spent 9 years teaching Social Studies and as part of the administrative team at Union Academy. Most recently, he was the High School administrator at Lake Norman Charter in Huntersville, NC. He has also coached; XCC, Track and Tennis.
Mr. Sullivan is a native of Connecticut but has been living in the Carolinas for the past 20 years. He is happily married to his wife Huanita and enjoys traveling & mountain biking when time permits.

Mrs. Markl Kies, Assistant Principal
Mrs. Kies joined the Mount Pleasant staff in 2014. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Special Education from East Carolina University and a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Wingate University. Before joining Mount Pleasant, she spent 16 years as a special education teacher at Winecoff Elementary School and 10 years in various job roles in the Exceptional Children’s department of Cabarrus County Schools.
Mrs. Kies is a native of Stanly County and graduated from West Stanly High School. She has lived in Cabarrus County for the last 23 years with her husband, Tom, and two daughters, Jamison (age 24) and McKenna (age 20). In her spare time, she enjoys traveling and spending time with her family.
