Cheerleading Tryouts for the 2018 7th and 8th football season will be July 30, July 31, and August 1. Tryouts will be held in the gym at Hickory Rigde Middle from 3:00 pm - 5:00pm. A list of cheerleaders who make the team will be posted on this website and on the outside gym doors by 5:30 pm on Wednesday, August 1, 2018. There will be a parent meeting in the gym for those cheerleaders at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, August 1st, 2018. A mandatory camp will be held at school August 8, 9, and 10, 2018 (9-4) for those cheerleaders who make the team.
A game day schedule will be listed below. Please make sure you do not have any scheduling conflicts before you tryout. Games last until approximately 6:30 pm. We will practice on non-game days until 6:00 pm.
All athletes should wear shorts, t-shirt, athletic shoes, and socks. They should have their hair pulled up and wear no jewelry.
You must have a current physical signed by a doctor. These will be collected starting at 2:15 pm on July 30th in the gym.
All other Athletic Paperwork must be completed online on the Hickory Ridge Middle Athletics homepage. It will be live June 1st.
Cheerleaders will learn a cheer, a dance, and several chants during tryouts. They will also be required to do cheer jumps. Tumbling is not required, but it is helpful.

Are you interested in Cheerleading? Do you love to dance and get pumped up at sporting events? If so, then come check out Maverick Cheer Camp! This camp will be geared towards learning arm motions, jumps, cheers, and dance routines all while getting to know fun, new people through engaging team building activities. This camp will also help rising 7th and 8th graders prepare for our Maverick Cheerleading tryouts for the 2018-2019 school year which will be held July 30th – August 1st! Let's Go Mavericks!! Campers should bring: tennis shoes/socks, shorts/t-shirt, a hair tie, and snack/drink for break time.
