  • Field Trip

We will be visiting Historic Latta Plantation in Huntersville, NC on April 3, 2020 from 9 am-3 pm.

During our program, students examine the times and lives of Northern and Southern soldiers during the American Civil War from 1861-1865. Taken from a viewpoint that neither favors nor discredits, this program discusses the political, social, and military aspects of this tragic conflict. An interpreter in period uniform will demonstrate the life of a Civil War soldier through a living history presentation that includes camp life, military equipment, uniforms, medicine, food, and military tactics. The loading and firing of a Civil War era musket is included in this demonstration. Students will also get a tour of the plantation home, cooks kitchen, and slave cabin. This is a full-day at Latta!

Permission slips are being sent home with your child. Payment may be in the form of cash, check made out to Bethel, or pay online through the K-12 Payment center.

We are looking forward to this trip!
