Ms. Emily Barbee

Hello! I am so excited to meet everyone and start this brand new year at Northwest! This is my very first year teaching, and I hope to learn along with everyone! I was born in Concord and attended the Mt. Pleasant schools until I transferred to Piedmont High School in Union County for my Junior and Senior years. When deciding on my college major, I could not pick a favorite between biology and mathematics for my major in college, so I chose both. I graduated May 2020 from Wingate University with a B.S. in Mathematics and Environmental Biology and a minor in Biology. My last semester was thrown into the chaos due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so I understand online learning from a student’s perspective and hope I can be of help to everyone with my experience. While in college, I worked as a laboratory assistant, undergraduate researcher, community garden manager, as well as a wildlife rehabilitator. My hobbies include painting, caring for my houseplants, and baking. I have a two-year-old basset hound named Ella, an English Shepherd named Blair, and a German Shorthaired Pointer named Eli. I hope we can make this year great! Go Trojans!
