Mrs. Elizabeth Vanover
Welcome 2nd semester students! If you have another teacher listed at the same time as my class, report to their class. If those teachers want you to come to my class, they will tell you. I do not have a canvas class, and do not give any graded assignments. All comunication will happen in class, by email, or over Microsoft Teams.
Patriots Academic Time is an enhanced study hall. I am here to help you stay on track with your other subjects. Sometimes that means helping you to understand a high level assignment, sometimes it means reminding you to turn in your work and it always means giving you time and space to get your work done. I expect you to come to my class, whether in person or virtual, ready to work. If you utilize your time in my classroom well, you should have very little day to day homework. I love helping students succeed and can't wait to get started with my new and returning students! See you soon!
I hold virtual study hall on Wednesdays (unless otherwise announced) and expect you to check in at the time in the link below. I will also be keeping up with my virtual students through individual check ins that I will schedule during our class time. On Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays if I haven't scheduled a check in, please plan on using your time wisely to get your work done. If you would like to schedule some time to work one on one, just tell me during our teams meeting or email me to set it up.

My name is Mrs Vanover, but most of my students just call me Mrs V. I will be leading the Patriot's Academic Time class this year.
I spent more than 15 years as a veterinary technician during which I got to work with all kinds of animals, from bulldogs to bobcats and horses to bald eagles. I have lots of stories about my years as a vet tech that I can share with my classes. Once I became a mom, I started volunteering in my kids' classrooms, and then substituting. From there, I became a Teaching Assistant at Cox Mill High working with the sciences, forensics, and Spanish classes. I decided last year to make it official and went back to college to get my teaching degree, and am now in my fourth semester as a college kid. So I have homework too!
My husband and I have two boys. One is grown and out on his own, and one is a sophomore on the mountain biking team at Cox Mill High this year. I have a Catahoula dog, a bunch of chickens, and a big old Belgian cross horse with blue eyes.
I can't wait to meet all of my new students and get this year started!
