Dear Parents/Guardians:

I want to take this time and introduce myself to you. My name is Donzel Cleare. I will be your son/daughter’s Law and Justice/Public Safety Instructor this Spring. The Law and Justice/Public Safety class is part of the Career and Technology Education curriculum. This course provides basic career information in private security including dignitary protection, emergency and fire management, corporate security and protection, law enforcement, and legal services. Additionally, students will develop a personal plan for a career in private security. The course includes skills in each area, using resources from the community to help deliver instruction to the students. English language arts are reinforced.

I am a first-year teacher. I was employed for the New York City Police Department for 20 years and retired September of 2018. I worked as a Patrol Officer, a Sergeant, and Commanding Officer of Community Affairs for the Housing Bureau. I always enjoyed contributing to my community and working with youth. I created and facilitated many empowerment programs for the students within the Department of Education. I’m extremely honored and motivated to take on this new challenge in assisting our students develop into our future leaders and to help identify our future public safety heroes.

I am so very grateful for this opportunity and will always be available to you and your child to discuss anything to help them succeed. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to email me at donzel.cleare@cabarrus.k12.nc.us .

All the best,

Retired Lieutenant, Donzel Cleare
