Degrees and Certifications:
I am the proud principal at R. Brown McAllister STEM Elementary and excited to be a part of the tribe! I have been an educator in the public school arena for 17 years and joined the RBM Bobcats in 2020. Before joining Cabarrus County Schools, I worked in both Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools and Union County Public Schools. I served as the principal at Matthews Elementary (2014-2020) and Weddington Elementary (2011-2014), as assistant principal at Waxhaw Elementary (2009-2011) and as assistant principal, reading specialist, and teacher at Benton Heights Elementary School of the Arts (2003-2009).
My education began here in Cabarrus County, where I was born and raised. I later received undergraduate degrees in elementary education and reading education from Wingate University. I have also completed my master's degree in educational leadership at Winthrop University. Together my wonderful husband, Matthew, and I are raising our two most precious blessings, our sons. Both of our boys attend Cabarrus County Schools. Jaxson is a sixth-grader and Malachi is a third-grader. In my time away from school, much of our family time is spent serving at our church, reading and running together, and making memories with our close-knit family!
I have taught a wide array of students from kindergarten through fifth grade and enjoyed my time in the class as interventionist and instructor. I can often be found in classrooms and feel that it is important for me to be an instructional leader first.
As a teacher and an leader, I have always felt strongly that, given the time and opportunity, all students can succeed. Because of this deep-seated belief, I will work to make sure that the needs of all students are met. I believe that student achievement is built through rigor, relationships and relevance and will work to ensure that these characteristics are present daily in my leadership as well as classroom instruction.
I look forward to working with you and your student. Thank you for choosing Cabarrus County Schools and R. Brown McAllister STEM Elementary.
