WE ARE THE Optimistic Otters!!!

Science Grading Policy

Welcome to my page and the 2020-2021 school year!  I am one of the 6th grade STEM Science teachers.   This is my second year at J. N. Fries and my third year teaching within the Cabarrus County School System.

I love soccer (futbol),  English Premiere League in particular.  I played NCAA Division II soccer for four years and moved to Florida for graduate school after earning my Dual Bachelor's in Biology/Environmental Science.  I earned my Master's in 2019 at Nova Southeastern University in Marine Biology.

You will often find me playing board games/card games with friends and family during the evenings of most nights.

I have an incredible affinity for all things cephalopods (squid, octopus, cuttlefish, and nautilus).  My graduate program allowed me the freedom to conduct research through the proper scientific process and publish works throughout my time.  Links for works completed will be included below.

Global Review of Cephalopod Fisheries (2019)

Synthetically Engineered Microbes (2017)

I look forward to creating and exploring through collaboration and ingenuity within the classroom! It is going to be a wonderful year.
