Mr. Philip Davanzo III, CMAA, AIC
Originally from Vestal, NY. However, he did spend one school year at North Mecklenburg High School and then moved back to Vestal. He attended NC State University and competed for the Wolfpack’s Wrestling Team. He has worked in Arena Football, arenafootball2, women’s professional soccer, and with the Durham Bulls. He started his career in education at Millbrook High School as a Teacher’s Assistant, Head Softball Coach, Assistant Wrestling Coach, and coached football (for one year). After two years at Millbrook, he moved to Jordan High School, in Durham, to teach business and marketing. He also served as Head Wrestling Coach and Assistant AD. In his nine years at Jordan, he led his team to consecutive PAC-VI Conference Titles (first one in 21 years). In 2013, he was named Jordan High School Teacher of the Year. In 2014, he moved to Mallard Creek to be the Athletic Director. For three years he was the play by play analyst for the NC State Wrestling team on gopack.com and ESPN3. Prior to leaving Mallard Creek, in June, he was named to Coach and AD Magazines 2019 Class of 40 under 40. On July 1, 2019, he began his tenure, as Athletic Director, at Cox Mill High School. He is married to his wife, Katie, and they have a son named Ari.
