Mrs. Meredith Graham
Hello! My name is Meredith Graham and I am a new resident of Concord and the Irvin family! Last summer I married the love of my life Jaymes Graham in my hometown, Statesville NC. I’ve been a teacher in Asheville for the past 7 years in 4th, 3rd, and 1st grades, and last year I taught 4th grade math at Odell Elementary right here in Concord! I am incredibly excited to begin my journey here at Irvin as your child's 2nd grade teacher.
In 2010 I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Asheville with a BA in Psychology and K-6 teaching license. In December of 2016 I graduated from Appalachian State University with a MA in Curriculum and Instruction. I feel both fortunate and blessed to have experienced educational opportunities that have shaped me into the teacher that I am today.
Some of my interests include hiking on the Blue Ridge Parkway, relaxing with a nice book in a bubble bath, and enjoying a cookout with friends and family.
I enjoy and consider it a privilege to teach young children. I would describe our classroom as fun and active as well as rigorous and motivating. I believe in establishing a classroom community that is built upon mutual trust and understanding. I have a strong passion for teaching in which I encourage and uphold high expectations for both myself and my students. I feel this is important when trying to reach their full potential. In our classroom we work together as lifelong leaders and learners each and every day. I love to watch my students share their thinking and collaboratively interact with one another. I teach with the philosophy that every child has the right to learn and it is my responsibility to give them the environment and tools to do so.
In our classroom we have an open door policy. I encourage my parents to take an active role in the learning process for their children. I enjoy seeing my parents volunteer in the classroom and attend parent nights and conferences. I also feel it is important for parents to read with their child nightly to support classroom learning.
Your child is important to me. Thank you for trusting me with your child. I promise to make their 2nd grade school year a productive and motivating experience that is filled with new experiences, friends, and knowledge!
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns. My school email address or our classroom Remind App is the best way to communicate with me. I am looking forward to creating a partnership between home and school that will foster a memorable year for your child.
