Dr. Erin Anderson, Principal

I am very excited to be a part of Harrisburg Elementary School and know we will have a wonderful school year.  For the past 5 years I have served as a principal in the Kannapolis City Schools District working at both Jackson Park Elementary School and at Fred L. Wilson Elementary School.  I was honored to be selected Principal of the Year two times during those 5 years.  Prior to serving as a principal I was a Curriculum Coordinator for 5 years and a teacher for 8 years.  In 2015, I earned my doctorate in Educational Leadership from Wingate University, where I also earned my principal licensure in 2009.  In 2007, I earned my Masters in Teaching in Special Education from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.  I began my journey in education at Indiana University earning my Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education in 1999.

I look forward to meeting and working with all the students and families to support the strong academic program at Harrisburg Elementary.  Please feel free to contact me if I can support you in any way.

I am honored to join the Harrisburg family as the Assistant Principal and I’m looking forward to building supportive relationships with each of you. You all are an amazing team of educators and staff, supportive parents, and talented students! I know the 2017-18 school year will be an exciting journey for all of us, and will be filled with new experiences and challenging learning opportunities!

I am a North Carolina native. I grew up just north of Concord in the BBQ city of Lexington. I graduated from Lexington Senior High and my mascot was the yellow jacket! How fitting that I am once again a “stinger”. I began working for CCS in 2004 as a 5th grade teacher. For the past ten years, I worked as an Instructional Technology Facilitator supporting teachers and students with digital competencies. I earned a B.A degree in Elementary Education K-6 from the University of Charlotte in 1993. I earned a M.Ed in Instructional Technology from East Carolina University in 2009, and completed my Principal Licensure from Appalachian State University in 2016.

I believe that the “Burg” is the best community around, and has an amazing reputation for student achievement and parent/community involvement.  I am inspired by students and teachers every day, and I’m proud to be a part of this group of dynamic, innovative, and global thinkers.  Thank you for allowing me to learn and grow with you all.  This year, let’s challenge ourselves to set new goals each day, and keep our expectations high.  I believe that all of us can be successful if we invest in each other!
