Elizabeth "Liz" Poole
This is my fourth year at Mt. Pleasant High School and my thirteenth year as a teacher. I began my teaching career as a Business and Marketing Education teacher. I then transitioned to the position of Career and Technical Education Coordinator or CTEC. I am also the Work Based Learning Coordinator (WBLC) for MPHS. Students interested in an internship or apprenticeship may contact me for assistance. I am excited to continue to help the senior AOES NAF academy students complete their program of study as well as transition to our Academy of Architecture and Construction beginning with the Class of 2022. I am very excited to add Electrical Trades and Interior Design to enhance our offering of Masonry and Drafting for our academy students. As the program grows, we may be able to add even more options.
The CTEC/WBLC responsibilities incorporate the North Carolina Standard Course of Study, National Career Development Guidelines, the National Model for School Counseling Programs, and Future Ready Student for the 21st Century. CTECs/WBLCs work with students, parents, staff, and the community in the areas of career development, transition services, partnerships, and professional development. CCS students are required to complete a Career Pathway in either CTE, World Languages, Fine Arts or JROTC. I would with students and school counselors to help students select courses they are interested in and courses which will meet all graduation requirements. 4 year plans are created for all MPHS students to visualize their progress towards graduation.
I also serve as the Career and Technical Education department chair at MPHS and as a member of our School Improvement Team. Our program areas include Business and Marketing, Family and Consumer Sciences, Health Sciences, Information Technology, Trades and Industry, and our NAF Academy of Energy and Sustainability. We will be transitioning to an Academy of Architecture and Construction for the 2020-2021 school year.
As the CTEC/WBLC, I provide career services to MPHS, MPMS, and 5th graders at Mt. Pleasant Elementary School, A.T. Allen Elementary School and W.M. Irvin Elementary School.
Please stop by my office in Student Services for assistance in your college and career planning/career pathway process.
If you need a youth worker's permit, bring your employer information and I'll help you print the certificate needed for youth employment. You must have a job offer first in order to complete the NC Dept. of Labor form.
