BOE Policy Code 3460 Graduation Requirements

This is my fifth year at Mt. Pleasant High School and my fourteenth year as a teacher. I began my teaching career as a Business and Marketing Education teacher. I then transitioned to the position of Career and Technical Education Coordinator or CTEC. I am also the Work Based Learning Coordinator (WBLC) for MPHS. Students interested in an internship should contact me for assistance. I am excited to continue to help the senior AOES NAF academy students complete their program of study as well as transition to our Academy of Architecture and Construction beginning with the Class of 2023. Adding Electrical Trades and Interior Design has enhanced our offering of Masonry and Drafting for our academy students. As the program grows, we may be able to add even more options.

The CTEC/WBLC responsibilities incorporate the North Carolina Standard Course of Study, National Career Development Guidelines, the National Model for School Counseling Programs, and Future Ready Student for the 21st Century. CTECs/WBLCs work with students, parents, staff, and the community in the areas of career development, transition services, partnerships, and professional development.  I work with students and school counselors to help students select courses they are interested in and courses which will meet all graduation requirements. 4 year plans are created for all MPHS students to visualize their progress towards graduation. See the tab on the left for more information on CTE Career Pathways.

I also serve as the Career and Technical Education department chair at MPHS. Our program areas include:

* Agriculture Education

* Business, Finance and Marketing

* Computer Science and Information Technology

* Family and Consumer Sciences

* Health Sciences

* Trade, Technology, Engineering and Industrial Education

* MPHS Program Choice Academy of Architecture and Construction Beginning with Class of 2023 (See our academy page for Remind numbers and more information)

* NAF Academy of Energy and Sustainability (Class of 2022 only)
