Mrs. Susan Ulrick
I joined the Bethel Family in 2016. I love the community and families in our area. I taught Special Education in Stanly County for 4 years and Union County for 8 years. I was named Teacher of the Year in 2014-2015 in Union County. I felt a calling to move from EC to general education during the 2017-2018 school year and was blessed to teach 3rd grade ELA Reading. My passion for teaching reading and follwing the growth of students, led me to pursue "looping" with some of my 3rd grade students and moving into 4th Grade ELA Reading and Writing for the 2018-2019 school year.
I attended the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and graduated with dual majors in Psychology and Social Work. I also attended Pfeiffer University for two years and obtained a certification in Special Education. In 2017-2018 I completed the required evaluations to add General Education K-6 to my professional license. My work experience is diverse as I have worked as a Paralegal for a Domestic Law firm, served as a caseworker for D.S.S. and Child Support Enforcement, prior to entering the teaching profession.
I was born and raised in Stanly County on Badin Lake. I met my husband, Michael, while living in Wilmington and we have been married for 28 years. We have two children, our son William is 25 and graduated Appalachian State University and is currently in the U.S. Navy. Our daughter Hailey is 22 and is a pre-medical student majoring in Chemisty at UNC-Wilmington. We have 3 dogs and love to spend time at the beach and hiking in the mountains. I also enjoy playing piano and scrapbooking.
