I am excited to meet all of our new 6th graders this year! While this may not be the start to middle school that you envisioned, we will do all that we can to ensure that our students have a smooth transition and a great experience here at Harris Road! This is my 14th year working as a School Counselor and my 9th year with Cabarrus County Schools. Please contact me if I can be of support to your child. Students are able to request to see me through this link:
Like you, we are concerned with the social and emotional health of our students during this time of school closure. To support our students, the Student Services Department will be providing weekly SEL lessons to promote resiliency, coping skills and self-management. Parents will be notified through the school newsletter of the district's weekly theme, skills covered and any additional resources that are being provided to students and parents.
Our SISP team will be working closely with teachers to monitor the well-being of our students. While we are unable to check-in with students face to face as we normally would, virtual check-ins would allow us to screen students that may need of additional support. To help facilitate that process, we ask that all parents complete the VIRTUAL CONSENT FORM. As per our regular practices, parents would be notified of any concerns and need for continued support.
