  • A Message From Our Principal

EACH DAY IS A NEW DAY!

    WELCOME BACK

Greetings to everyone in the Opportunity Middle and High School Family!  The upcoming 2018-19 school year is upon us and this time can be only as meaningful and rewarding as you make it. As your Principal, I am happy to serve the students in Cabarrus County in grades 6-12 in the Alternative Program setting. The Opportunity School vision and guiding principle is “A revitalized and re-engaged student who is empowered and capable.”  This vision statement embodies our day to day practices as we work with students with eagerness, enthusiasm, and dedication.   We will continue to assist the school district in preparing responsible, productive citizens who have worked to improve their academic, behavioral, and emotional challenges.  Our continuum of alternative services reaches out to proactively target the needs of at-risk students with early intervention strategies, character education, highly trained and talented teachers and staff members, and high quality instruction.  At The Opportunity School, we address the needs of students with attendance, credit, and behavioral challenges, but we try our best to help students every day in a smaller, structured, nurturing environment that builds their ability to be successful in the traditional school setting and beyond. There are different services and supports that we have available to help students with varying needs.  We do have a uniform requirement which helps students focus on the inside and not the outside.

As your school leader, I am proud to serve the staff and the students in a positive manner and my role here is to facilitate your educational and behavioral goals so that you are able to transition to your home schools for the next semester. We may not offer after school athletics or clubs but we do have a system of incentives and student groups that students can participate in while enrolled at Opportunity. Please know that we maintain a safe, orderly, caring school!

    Principal Beverly Mack
