    Integrative Technology Research Poster

My honors students have been working independently researching a technology of their chosing and creating an Integrative Technology Research Poster.  The overall purpose of the research is for the students to get a more comprehensive understanding of technology as an integrative force for the academic disciplines (beyond just the STEM fields).

Criteria that students were given prior to creating their poster:

You have complete creative control of your poster.  It can be just straight informational, it can be in the form of an advertisement, it can be like a front page of a journal, etc.  You are limited only by your creativity.  (You may also use “BOTH SIDES” of your poster as you see fit, not all of the information needs to be on the front.  This is where your creativity comes into play.)

Within your project, you must show evidence (and references) of the following concerning your technology of choice:

    • Technology
      • Definition of the technology
      • Integration of the technology with other technologies
      • What it is used for?
      • Why it is of interest to you?
    • Math
      • What is the underlying math concept that was used in this technology?
      • Is there math that was used to model this concept?
    • Science
      • What are the laws of nature that this technology utilizes?
    • Engineering
      • What kind of engineering controls are used to prevent this technology from hurting users or others?
      • What kind of engineering controls are used to protect greater society from misuse of this technology.
    • Historical/Societal Impact
      • When was the technology first discovered/adapted?
      • What was the societal background during the development?
      • What are the economic impacts of the technology?
    • Art (design, user interface)
      • Are there differences in designs of this technology? Explain.
      • Are there inferences about the technology based upon the design (hazard, use, etc.)? Explain.
      • Are there user interfaces that have influenced the design?
