As your child’s School Counselor I want to take every opportunity to help our students learn positive character traits and social skills. Each month, as a school, we will focus on a specific character trait. I encourage you to discuss these at home and acknowledge moments when your student is exhibiting these traits.
August/September: Responsibility- Doing what you are supposed to do without being told. I ROAR by doing what is expected of me everyday.
October: Respect- Treating others the way you want to be treated. I ROAR by showing respect to all with my words and my actions.
November/December: Kindness- Caring for others. I ROAR by putting my respect into action and helping others.
January: Empathy- Putting yourself in someone else’s shoes. I ROAR by putting myself in others place and or trying to understand their feelings.
February: Tolerance- Respecting differences. I ROAR by learning about our differences and celebrating them.
March: Honesty- Speaking the truth and acting truthfully. I ROAR by always being honest with my words and my actions
April: Perseverance- Not giving up. I ROAR by being my best and never giving up.
May/June: Self-discipline- Teaching yourself to be in control. I ROAR by being in control of my decisions, actions, and words."Intelligence plus character - that is the goal of a true education.”
