What time can guests arrive?

Where do family and guests park?
Posted by:Family and guests will park near the main entrance to the speedway. Staff will be on-site directing you where to enter the Speedway. For more information, refer to the view graduation map.

Are tickets required for graduation?
Posted by:Yes, the speedway requires tickets and each graduate will be given a certain amount by the school.

How many tickets will each graduate receive?
Posted by:Each graduate will receive a minimum of 10 tickets. Specific ticket information is available through the school.

Will I have to go through security?
Posted by:Security screenings will be conducted on all graduates, family and guests upon entering the venue. This security screening will include passing through a metal detector or wand station, and guests bags will be searched. Items such as guns, knives and other prohibited paraphernalia will be confiscated and kept in a secure area. You may retrieve these items after the ceremony.

Do I have to wear a mask?
Posted by:Based on the Governor’s Executive Order 209, effective April 30th masks are no longer required for outdoor activities. In situations where students are not actively participating and unable to physically distance, they are strongly encouraged to wear masks.

Will there be services for graduates and guests who are deaf or hard of hearing?
Posted by:Sign language and Spanish-language interpreters will be available for guests. Contact your school to coordinate these services for your ceremony.

How will guests and family know where to sit?
Posted by:Once family and guests enter the concourse, they will be directed to a designated section of the Grandstands. Seating is on a first come, first served basis. We ask that groups/families try and leave a buffer of two seats between other groups/families.

What will the graduation ceremony be like?
Posted by:Each high school graduation will feature a graduate processional, speeches from selected graduates and staff, awarding of diplomas and recessional. Each school program will have school-specific information. Programs will be distributed before each ceremony.

Will I be able to see the graduation ceremony?
Posted by:The Charlotte Motor Speedway is a large facility featuring a 1.5 mile oval track. In addition to live viewing, the ceremony will be broadcast on the Speedway TV and streamed live on YouTube. Binoculars may aid in seeing the ceremony.

How will I be able to hear the ceremony?
Posted by:The ceremony audio will be played live over the speedway PA system. In addition, the ceremony will be live streamed on YouTube.

Will graduates be able to walk across the stage?
Posted by:Yes, graduates will walk across the stage to receive their diploma.

Will I get to go on the track?
Posted by:No, guests will not be able to access the track. You will only have access to the concourse where you entered and the designated seating areas.

What is the attire for guests?
Posted by:There is not a specific dress code for guests. Remember, it will be hot and we recommend you wear comfortable shoes.

Can I bring flowers?
Posted by:Yes, flowers are permissible as long as they are not in a glass container. Note, however, that family and guests will not have access to graduates while in the speedway.

Can I bring signage?
Posted by:No. Signage, poster boards or other objects that may obstruct views are prohibited.

Can I bring an umbrella?
Posted by:Umbrellas are not permitted at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. In the event of rain or severe weather, directions will be broadcast over the PA and Speedway TV. There is a covered concourse available in the event of rain.

What if it rains during the graduation ceremony?
Posted by:If it begins to rain during the ceremony, we will continue unless it is accompanied by severe weather such as lightning or tornado warnings.

What happens if there is rain or severe weather?
Posted by:We will be monitoring the weather closely as graduation approaches. Rain plans will be in place for each graduation and are all designed to ensure that your graduate will be able to walk across a stage and receive their diploma. Depending on the possible inclement weather scenarios, graduations will either be delayed on the same day, rescheduled for the following day, or moved to the following weekend, if necessary. Updated information will be communicated through your school’s website, social media, and the district graduation website at http://www.cabarrus.k12.nc.us/cabcograds21.

Is outside food and drink permitted?
Posted by:No, guests are not allowed to bring in outside food or drink. The Speedway concessions will be open and water and refreshments will be available for purchase during the graduation ceremonies.

Posted by:Yes. There are bathrooms located in the parking lot and in the speedway concourse.

Can I wear my cap and gown?
Posted by:Yes, graduates are required to wear the traditional commencement attire with cap, gown and any honorary regalia (cords/stoles). Clothing worn under the gown should adhere to school dress code. For more information contact your school.

Can I decorate my cap?
Posted by:Yes, you may decorate your cap, but remember decorations must adhere to code of conduct.

Will there be a photographer?
Posted by:Each school is responsible for coordinating photography for individual graduation pictures.

How big is the speedway?
Posted by:The Charlotte Motor Speedway is a large facility housing a 1.5 mile racetrack surrounded by more than 2,000 acres of parking and access roads.

Is the Speedway handicap accessible?
Posted by:Charlotte Motor Speedway is safely accessible to individuals who need physical assistance. The venue has ramps and elevators, as well as dedicated sections in the stands/bleachers for wheelchairs. The Speedway also has dedicated handicapped parking spaces near the main pedestrian entrance. Turn on your hazard lights as you enter the parking lot to alert staff that you need handicapped parking.

What if I have an emergency while at the speedway?
Posted by:During the ceremony there will be EMS, law enforcement, CCS staff, and speedway security available to assist. In the event that you cannot locate anyone, dial 911.

Will I be able to purchase a videotape or DVD of the ceremony?
