Realignment Questions

Getting Started

  • Registration 2020 kicks off with Program Choice events for Rising 9th Graders, followed by those for Rising 10th - 12th Graders, and then for Rising 9th Graders not opting for Program Choice. This year's registration process will include opportuntities for students impacted by district realignment to have registration experiences consistent with the shared goals of both the sending and receiving schools. Events will span Fall 2019 to Spring 2020 and beyond. Students and families will find helpful information here and on other high school and district webpages (see Helpful Documents and Links section). Check back often, as new resources will appear as they are introduced to students and families. New students to Cabarrus County Schools should carefully review the information in the section below before taking any action.

Please be sure to attend all registration events for the school to which you are districted for the 2020-21 school year so you will have the information you need to successfully  register for your classes. Counselors will be available at scheduled registration events to answer your questions. Should you have questions outside of those events, please visit the Registration Help Table in the CMHS Commons during lunch times on most Tuesdays & Thursdays during the peak registration months (November - January) or email your School Counselor for the 2020-21 school year. All realignment questions must be sent to Mr. Lowry.

New Students

  • HOW DO I ENROLL?

If you plan to move into our district and attend CMHS in 2020-21, you should visit the Cabarrus County Schools Realignment webpage to confirm your school. You will need to register with the school you will attend for 2020-21. If you are districted to attend Cox Mill High School, you will need to complete the new student enrollment process outlined on our new enrollment webpage. You may begin this process in June 2020. Students cannot be enrolled in two schools at once, therefore, in most cases students moving into the CMHS district for the 2020-21 school year will have to wait until June 2020 to begin the new enrollment process.

NOTE:  Current Cabarrus County Schools eighth graders applying to the Academy of Information Technology (AoIT) do not need to complete the new student enrollment form previously referenced; your process will be different and is outline on the AoIT and Program Choice webpages.

MAY I ATTEND REGISTRATION EVENTS EVEN IF I AM NOT ENROLLED YET?

Students who will be new to our school and districted to attend CMHS for 2020-21 are allowed to attend evening events, as these events are open to the public. Daytime events are not open to the public, however, and those not yet enrolled may not attend these unless granted prior approval. Please contact one of our School Counselors for information and instructions if you are requesting to attend a daytime event.
