• Welcome to Mrs. Traylor’s AP Government & Politics (APGoPo) course!

I’m looking forward to another successful semester at Hickory Ridge.

Attached you will find my course syllabus and a separate cell phone policy which will be sent home with all students.  These should be read by both student and parent/guardian and signed and returned by Friday, January 25th.  This document includes important information about PowerSchool, cell phones, absent policy, as well as a broad overview of what we will cover in this course.

In addition to the syllabus, I am requesting that all parents/guardians introduce their student to me via email or letter.  Please include pertinent information such as your child’s interests, extracurricular activities, plans for after high school, how they learn best, etc.  Feel free to include any additional information you think would be helpful in teaching your student.

To introduce myself, my name is Kimberly Traylor and I teach Civics & Economics as well as AP US Government & Politics.  This is my 7thyear teaching and I’ve been lucky enough to teach them all at Hickory Ridge High School.  Prior to teaching, I grew up in Concord and Raleigh.  I attended North Carolina State University (GO PACK!) where I earned a Bachelor’s in History and a Master’s in Teaching Secondary Social Studies.  I currently live in Concord with my husband Elgin and our 2-year-old son, Davis.

I’m excited for this new semester and hope you are as well.  I plan to send a unit email intermittently to keep you informed on what we are studying as well as due dates for assignments, quizzes and tests.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email or call me.
