• Waiting List

Due to Poplar Demand, KIDS:PLUS is full at many sites and interested children are being placed on the waiting list.

    Waiting List Q’s & A’s

Q:  Why has my child been placed on a waiting list?
A:   If it is due to capacity, it means that since we are licensed by the North Carolina Division of Child Development and Early Education [NCDCDEE], we have a capacity that we must not enroll past.  This varies location to location.

Since we are licensed by NCDCDEE, we must maintain staff/child ratios in our program of either 1:14/1:19.  We are searching and interviewing for new team members, but currently the applicant pool is limited, or we insist on finding the most qualified, loving team members that we can find.

Q:  What is the plan for eliminating the waiting list at my child’s school?
A:  If the waiting list is due to license capacity, we will review the spaces that we are able to access at each school and determine if we can add the additional square footage to our licensed space.

If the waiting list is due to staffing, we will continue to review the applicant pool and interview until we can staff our team to eliminate the waiting list.  However, when it comes to staffing, there are many factors that influence the assignment of staff members.  When we interview each applicant, we are focused on putting them at a location that will benefit our children the most, based on their skill set and experience.

Q:  My child has a spot on the waiting list, when will they be able to attend?
A:  Unfortunately, there is no set time frame.  Your child could be the10th child on the waiting list, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that you will be the 10th person        contacted if a spot opens up.  We may have a spot come available for a part-time, afternoon only child in the 3rd grade group.  The site director would review the list and see if there is a 3rd grade child, who needs just afternoons and part-time care.

Due to the rapid growth in our community, a few of our larger centers held a waiting list all year during the 2018-2019 school year.  Unfortunately, we anticipate this to be the case for the 2019-2020 school year, as well.

Q:  Do I need to pay the registration fee to get my child placed on the waiting list?
A:  No.  In order to be placed on the waiting list, you will just need to express interest to the site director at your child’s KIDS:PLUS location.  Paying a registration fee will not increase your chances of being enrolled in the program.

Q:  How do I check to see if there is a waiting list at the KIDS:PLUS location.  If there is a waiting list, how do I get my child placed on it?
A:  The best way to get this information is to contact the site director directly at the KIDS:PLUS location that you are interested in.  You can find contact information for each site here.

Q:  I know someone who loves working with children, how do they apply?
A:  Please encourage potential applicants to visit theJoin Our Team page for more information.
