Due to poplar demand, KIDS:PLUS is full at many sites and families that are still interested are being placed on the waiting list.
Waiting List Q’s & A’s
Q: Why has my child been placed on a waiting list?
A: There are several reasons a site may be considered FULL.
- Licensed Capacity- we are licensed by the North Carolina Division of Child Development and Early Education [NCDCDEE] and we have a maximum occupancy capacity issued for each site, based on the amount of space and materials available. This capacity varies by location. Once a site reaches their licensed capacity, we are unable to accept more children.
- Ratio Capacity- since we are licensed by NCDCDEE, we must also maintain staff/child ratios in our program. Those ratio requirements are 1:14 (when a 5 year old is present) or 1:19. We are limited to enrolling only the number of children permitted according to the number of staff we have on our team.
Q: What is the plan for lifting the waiting list at my child’s school?
A: It depends on the reason for the waiting list.
- If the waiting list is due to license capacity, we will review the spaces that we are able to access at each school and determine if we can add the additional square footage to our licensed space.
- If the waiting list is due to ratio capacity, we will continue to recruit and hire additional quality staff so that we are able to serve more families.
Q: My child has a spot on the waiting list, when will they be able to attend?
A: Unfortunately, there is no set time frame. When spaces become available, they are specific to a type of enrollment (part-time, full-time) and often specific to a particular age group. The site director at each site reviews this information carefully and the first child on the waiting list that meets the availabilty criteria will be offered the space. Spaces may become available due to withdrawals and/or additional staff placements.
Q: Do I need to pay the registration fee in order to have my child placed on the waiting list?
A: No. In order to be placed on the waiting list, we request that you complete a registration form and return it to the site director at your child’s school. Paying a registration fee does not increase your chances of being enrolled in the program.
Q: How do I check to see if there is a waiting list at the KIDS:PLUS location? If there is a waiting list, how do I get my child placed on it?
A: The best way to get this information is to contact the site director directly at the KIDS:PLUS location that you are interested in. You can find contact information for each site here. In order to be placed on the waiting list, we request that you complete a registration form and return it to the site director at your child’s school.
Q: I know someone who loves working with children, how do they apply?
A: Please encourage potential applicants to visit the “Join Our Team” page for more information.
