Welcome to 5th grade!
I am so happy to be back at Royal Oaks as a 5th grade teacher!
For those of you who don't know me-I have been a 4th grade teacher at Royal Oaks for the past 2 years. I'm so excited to be going to 5th grade this year. Even if I didn't have your child in my class last year, I have seen them in the hallway, playground and book clubs and will be a familiar face to me. We are lucky to have such a great group of students moving into 5th grade. Community is very important to me and was a strong concept and presence in my classroom last year. It will be more important than ever to make sure we communicate, be there for each other and work together to make this a great year for our children and for us.
I will be for you every step of the way this year-if you have any questions or concerns feel free to contact me at email@example.com, on class dojo or call me at 704-287-7493
Welcome to 5th grade!
Learning this year will look like nothing we have ever done before-let's be there for each other and make this a great year.
For our first unit in reading, we will be launching our readers workshop and learning about characters in text.
In math, we will be creating classroom community through data and graphing.
In our science unit, we will learn about living organisms and understanding how structures and systems of organisms (to include the human body) perform functions necessary for life.
For our social studies unit-we will learn about the pre-colonial era and use a great read aloud book called Blood in the River for the kids to learn about the settlers in James Town in 1607.
