First of all, for those of you who need a little help with my name-- it's pronounced boo-holts (the 'c' is silent). But feel free to call me Mrs. B.
I'm so excited to be the social worker at Cox Mill! I'll be at the high school on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. On Mondays and Tuesdays, I'll be at Cox Mill Elementary. I love working with children and teenagers, so I'm happy that I get the chance to be at both schools. Previously, I was a school social worker at an elementary school in Charlotte. Before that, I was in graduate school at UNC Charlotte getting my masters in social work. For undergrad, I went to Furman University in South Carolina and earned a degree in English. My husband (who happens to be a high school math teacher...but at the wrong school-- Northwest Cabarrus!) and I live in Charlotte with our dog and cat. I'm originally from Chicago, though, so I'm a true northerner at heart!
I help students and their families with various needs: social and emotional concerns, mental health issues, crisis intervention, referrals for community resources, homeless support (McKinney Vento), and attendance.
