Mrs. Maria Wise-Third Grade

Greetings, my name is Maria Wise and I am so delighted to join Rocky River Elementary School! I currently hold my license as a K-6 educator and have been an active classroom teacher for more than 12 years in the state of North Carolina. I have spent my entire career working with children and have nearly 20 years total experience in the field of education.

I am a native North Carolinian and have spent much of my life living in Charlotte. I am married to a wonderful husband and have 3 beautiful children ages 19, 20, and 24 and one grandson 5. I am an only child and spend much of my time with my mother in my spare time. I absolutely adore my dog Luci who is 9 years old.

Teaching is my passion and always has been. I received my undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and my Master's degree from Queens University of Charlotte.

I am eager to launch a new beginning at Rocky River Elementary School. As a third grade teacher, I endeavor to educate, nurture, and connect with my students. My primary goal is to ensure that each student makes academic gains in Reading and Math and is academically successful. My ultimate goal is to have my students exhibit Social and Emotional competence as global citizens who are able to compete acadmically in all arenas.

I'm looking forward to a positve and productive school year. I can't wait to meet each of you. I anticipate building a solid classroom community and partnership with my families.

Good morning families,

I hope all is well with you. It is bittersweet that I am emailing you today as this will  be the last week that I have your child as my student. It has been a challenge, but none other than, sheer pleasure working with you this year. In a sense, I was with your child a short time but each of your children, in their own special way, have impacted my career for a lifetime. While this was my first year at Rocky River, I had to learn the ropes fairly quickly and believe me your child helped me get acclimated pretty quickly. I will always remember their kind spirits, their glowing moments, and most of all their eagerness to learn.

Parents, I just want to thank you for all of your support and tenacity for making sure that your child was on target and ready to learn during the Covid 19 Pandemic. You deserve to be applauded and praised for your hard work. Again, I can't thank you enough. I wish you the very best as you all encounter 4th grade.

This week the county has provided choice boards for the children to work on. They can be found June 5-11 here

Please take a few moments of your time to review the newsletter posted by our school principal Tara Butch it can be found here: Parent Newsletter: https://www.smore.com/7yupv. There are important dates and information about when and where to pick up your child's belongings and drop off their Chromebooks.

Remember that each and every student will always fill a small space in my heart. Lots of love to you, wishing you well and the very best to your futures. Should you be interested in keeping in touch I'm just a call, text, or email away.

Yours truly,

Mrs. Wise
