• A Message from Dr. Chris Lowder, Superintendent  10/11/2016

Superintendent Lowder October is National Principals Month, and all month long we are celebrating our principals and assistant principals. Cabarrus County Schools is fortunate to have an outstanding group of school leaders who are caring, compassionate and capable.

We announced Dustin Shoe as our 2017 Principal of the Year during a surprise meeting at his school. Dustin has been principal of C.C. Griffin Middle School since 2015. He previously served as principal of Beverly Hills Elementary.  In addition to serving as principal, throughout his tenure in Cabarrus County Schools, Dustin has served as a secondary English teacher, lead teacher and assistant principal of instruction.  He’s a Cabarrus County native and attended the original Bethel Elementary School, J.N. Fries Middle School and Central Cabarrus High School.

He will now compete with other principals across the state for North Carolina Principal of the Year.

We also pulled off a double surprise at Wolf Meadow Elementary School, announcing Jennifer Brinson as our district’s Assistant Principal of the Year and then, naming her the new principal of the school!

Jennifer joined Cabarrus County Schools in 1995 as an elementary school teacher at Mount Pleasant Elementary.  Since joining CCS, she has served as a teacher, lead teacher, instructional specialist, and assistant principal of instruction!

We will continue our month-long celebration of our principals at our principals’ meeting later this month.

Looking ahead, the first quarter of the new school year ends Oct. 27th; that’s also an early dismissal day for students. Be sure to check the district calendar for other important dates – school will be closed for students on Oct. 28th, Nov. 8th and Nov. 11th.

    Until next time…

    Chris
