• A Message from Dr. Chris Lowder, Superintendent  06/21/2016
    Superintendent Lowder Greetings!
Cabarrus County Schools now has nearly 2,200 new alumni. We celebrated the Class of 2016 during graduation exercises held at the Cabarrus Arena & Events Center June 10-11. Graduates of the Cabarrus-Kannapolis Early College High School graduated in May.
Over the course of graduation weekend, school and district staff along with employees from the arena orchestrated eight ceremonies that were equal parts original, distinctive, sentimental and celebratory.
I want to say thank you to everyone who was involved in planning and coordinating our graduations. It takes a lot of people to ensure that these events run smoothly for our graduates, their families, and guests.
We also released Success Magnified, our annual report for the 2014-2015 school year. The report features facts and stats about the school year, but it also includes articles about an innovative partnership our Exceptional Children’s department has with LongHorn Steakhouse, as well as look at the Cabarrus County Education Foundation, which supports our school system in a number of ways. Printed copies of Success Magnified will be available later this summer, but the electronic version is available now.
During the past few months, Board of Education members and I have heard from many of you about our School Choice Plan. I want to thank you for your continued interest and engagement in this process. Our Board will discuss the plan at a meeting on June 30th. The meeting will be held at the Education Center (4401 Old Airport Road); it will begin at 5 p.m.
We hope you have an enjoyable and relaxing summer. We’ll be getting our buildings and grounds ready for the start of the new school year and look forward to welcoming students on August 29th!
    Christopher Lowder, Ed.D.
