*Please remember to log in for your small group times each week. This is an important time for your kids to learn things in a smaller group with the teacher!
*Please don’t forget to access each day's assignments on our canvas page. Make sure to check what the canvas page says to do before you go to Seesaw! 😊
*Please have your child log in to complete iStation or iReady for 15 mins each day. As a Kindergarten team we have added iStation and iReady to our canvas pages for the children to complete these programs as an assignment. Please do the one that is on the canvas page that day. This will be different than the way we have been doing it, but we are hopeful this will help the kids to log in each day and complete their tasks and time for the week. Thank you for your help with this!
What are we learning?
*Reading- This week we will be learning more strategies for the children to add their pockets to become better readers. We will be working through the “animal strategies”. These strategies help the children to take action and solve words. These strategies, as well as the super powers, work together with our Letterland program to help them solve and decode unknown words. This week we will learn the strategies that we call Eagle Eye, Lips the Fish, Stretchy Snake, and Chunky Monkey.
*Letterland- This week we will be learning about Eddy Elephant and Mr. E (letter e-both short and long sound). We will learn the sound that the letter makes, the action trick to go with the letter, and how to write the letter. Children often confuse the letter e short sound and the letter i short sound. This is a great thing to practice at home! We will also have another segmenting lesson this week so that we are continuing to spell (sound out/segment) words that we hear!
*Math- This week we will continue our unit on comparing numbers. We will compare numbers by learning to use a graph. We will also begin to explore teen numbers and understand how to represent a teen number. The children need to recognize that all teen numbers start with a 1.
*Social Studies- We will begin our unit on needs versus wants this week. In this unit the children will learn the difference between something that we need to survive and something that we want but can live without. We will also learn what our environment provides for us and how a job helps us to meet our needs and wants.
*Sight Words we have learned- to, the, a, be, I, see, in, it, and, is, are, you, for, he, on, his, look, not, go, no, my, like
*Letters we have learned- c, a (long and short sound), d, h, m, t, s, i (long and short sound), n, g, o (long and short sound), p, e (long and short sound)
*We are learning to blend sounds together to make words with the letters that we have learned using the roller coaster method.
*We are learning to segment sounds to hear each letter sound in a simple cvc word.

Things to be practicing at home:
*Tying shoes, ZIPPING COATS, Turning Coats right side out (as it gets colder this is very important!!)
*Counting to 20 by 1’s
*Letters and sounds
*Practice writing 0-10 the correct way at home!
*Writing name in upper and lowercase letters
*Learn their birthday
*Opening snack and lunch items alone to prepare to come back to school!
*Recognize numbers 1-20
*Pack and unpack backpack alone in preparation for school
