• Dojo Reward time!!! The class has made it to their goal of 2000 dojo points. Monday, November 22nd will be comfy cozy day. Students can wear their pajamas, bring in a small blanket that fits in their book bag, and a stuffed animal that also fits in their book bag. We will cozy up on the floor to do our work! 
     
    Don't forget that we do not have school next Wednesday-Friday due to Thanksgiving break.
     

    Culture Survey

    There is a culture survey in red folders today. Please fill out this paper with your student and return by December 1st. We will be using this form to create an All About our Culture book. This paper will act as research and planning for your student. Then we get to share our books!!

     

    Holiday Shop

    There is a flyer in the red folder about the Holiday Shop. Our class is going on Wednesday, December 8th. There is an envelope to place money in if your student is going to buy items there. Please read the flyer for more information.

     

    Class Shirts

     

    We will be ordering class t-shirts for field trips & special events.   

    • Cost is $10. 
    • Money is due Tuesday, November 23rd.  
    • Donations will be accepted if you would like to cover another child that may not be able to purchase a t-shirt. 
    • There is an order form in your child’s RED FOLDER this week. 
    • You can pay with check/cash OR on the K12 Payment Center

     

    What are we learning?

    Next week: We will be doing lots of activities based on being thankful and kind in all subjects. We might actually get to do some crafts!!

    Letterland – l blends (flag, slip, plug, clock, fly). Moving into r blends (grass, dry, truck, frog)

    ELA – We worked on learning facts from our nonfiction book and fiction books about bats. We also compared facts. We will finish our nonfiction reading unit after break.

    Writing – We worked on creating our own All About book after picking our own topic. Next week we will move into more of an informational book format. We will move into creating an informational book about an animal and researching.

    Math – We are working on place value. We are comparing numbers and working on comparing story problems. We will finish our place value unit after break.

    Social Studies – We started learning about maps and globes. We worked on the differences and directional words. We will go into reading a map, creating a map, and being landforms after break.

    Homework

    Your child should be reading each night for 10-15 minutes.  Please have your child read their Letterland homework page every night. This helps them remember the special sounds we are learning.

    If your child is out for any reason, please remember they have access on Canvas to what they are missing.  Please be sure to check our Canvas page for that information.

    13 Days Before Winter Break- Every year we do special days in December leading up to winter break. Below is the schedule showing what to wear. Your student can participate if they would like to.

     

    • December 1st- Holiday Headwear- wear a holiday headband or hat
    • December 2nd- Dress as your favorite holiday movie character
    • December 3rd- Team Jersey Day
    • December 6th- Workout for winter- wear workout clothes
    • December 7th- Candy Cane day- dress in red and white
    • December 8th- O'Christmas Tree- try to look like a Christmas tree
    • December 9th- Welcome to Whoville- dress like Dr. Seuss' Whoville from the Grinch
    • December 10th- Winter Weather clothes (hats, gloves, scarves)
    • December 13th- Jingle Bells- wear bells
    • December 14th- Lights- wear lights
    • December 15th- Ugly Christmas Sweater
    • December 16th- Cozy Socks
    • December 17th- Wear pajamas
