Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year! I am looking forward to continuing to serve the staff, students, and families of Cox Mill Elementary School; and am excited to supervise Alisha Shelton, a school psychologist intern from Appalachian State University as she supports the students and staff at Harris Road Middle School.
Although the beginning of this school year may look and feel quite differently as compared to previous years, please know that your support staff will continue to connect with teachers, families, and students to address academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs. While we operate under Plan C, please know that all requested meetings will be conducted either through a phone call or a virtual platform using Microsoft Teams. We have a dedicated focus to support the social-emotional needs of students as they transition back to school in the coming weeks. Please reach out should you have any concerns with your child's progress.
I completed my undergraduate work in Psychology at West Virginia University (Go 'Eers!) and completed a Master's Degree and Specialist of Education in School Psychology at James Madison University (Go Dukes!). I have a special professional interest in cross battery assessment, brain-based positive psychology and resilience, supporting student's mental health, and empowering students and families to be their best selves. Most recently, I completed a certification in QPR Training in Summer 2020.
In my time away from school, I enjoy spending time with my family, running outdoors, hiking, vacationing, and trying new recipes.
Here's to a GREAT new school year!
