Reminder about Cabarrus County Schools Medication Policy:
Student’s taking any medication at school to be administered by school personnel must have a Physician’s Authorization form on file. This applies to prescription and over-the-counter medications
Some students may need to self-medicate for certain chronic health conditions with a written order from the doctor and parent/guardian permission and will need to sign a self- administration contract with the school nurse. No prescription medication should be on school grounds without authorization on file each school year.
Students who may need to self-medicate with an over-the-counter (non-prescription) medication must have a written authorization by their parent/legal guardian that includes the date, time medication is to be self-administered, and the amount to be taken. Medicine should be in an original container, labeled contain only one or two doses. If students are seen giving or selling any medication to another student, they will be in violation of the school drug policy. *Please note that parent’s note must be with medication carried by student at all times.
