Mrs. Smith

Welcome to Mrs. Smith's AIG website. I have been a teacher in Cabarrus County Schools for 13 years. I have taught 1st grade, 2nd grade, 3rd grade and AIG. I have taught AIG for the last 6 years. This is my sixth year at Coltrane-Webb S.T.E.M. Elementary School. I am at Coltrane-Webb 4 days this year. I attended UNC-Charlotte and received my elementary education certification. I added on my AIG licensure from UNC-Pembroke. I am Nationally Board Certified in the area of Early Childhood Generalist. My husband is also a teacher in Cabarrus County Schools. We have an eight year old son, and a five year old daughter who bless us daily. I look forward to working with the students at Coltrane-Webb this year and working to cultivate potential in 1st and 2nd grades this year in our L.I.F.T. (learning interventions for the talented) program. If you need to contact me please send me an email at allison.smith@cabarrus.k12.nc.us since I am not at Coltrane every day.

What's Happening In AIG?

  • 5th grade: We will begin our study of the human brain. We will learn about the different lobes of the brain and do activities to strenghten each lobe of the brain. Then we will complete a Brain Games PBL.

4th grade:Inventions & Inventors: We will learn about famous inventors and how things are invented. We will learn about convergent and divergent thinking. We will SCAMPER everyday items and cereal. We will participate in a Little Bits PBL.

3rd grade: Ancient Egypt: We will research four major topics in Ancient Egypt: numbers, letters, clothing, and geography using the I.I.M. process. Then each student will create a PowerPoint to teach the rest of the class about their topic. Upon completion of the PowerPoint presentations, we will make papyrus, make a cartouche, solve number puzzles, and make a mummy interactively.
