WMES Principal's Message
A Message from Dr. Jennifer Brinson, Principal
Thanks to students, parents, teachers, and staff for a great start to our Go For The Gold school year. The first nine weeks was packed full of learning and growing as we all came back into school. Students learned about ecosystems, fractions, character traits, and early NC colonization, to name a few. We commemorated Citizenship and Constitution Day and celebrated student attendance with a spirit week. Congratulations to our first nine weeks House winner . . . House Amity! Students and staff members in House Amity represent kindness. Working together, students in House Amity earned the most House points to bring home the title! We also welcomed a new batch of kindergarteners into their Houses at our end of the nine weeks celebration. Camp Wolfgang was an enormous success with students not only receiving additional reading instruction with Ready Readers, but also participating in Bubble Adventures (science), Science Experiments, Mighty Movement (yoga and dance), Musical Theatre, and Garden Club. What an awesome week!
We are ready to continue our quest for gold in the 2nd nine weeks. Our teachers have used everything they have learned about their students in the first nine weeks to plan challenging, meaningful instruction to accelerate the learning for all during the second nine weeks. We hope you will join us in continuing our quest for gold! We would love for parents and families to be a part of our team. You can join the WMES PTO, participate in our upcoming fundraisers, become a part of the School Improvement Team, or volunteer to be a member of the Superintendent’s Advisory Council. Check your email, WMES’s social media, and your voicemail often for opportunities from the school for you to be a part of your child’s school. Please feel free to reach out to your child’s teacher for more information on any of these participation opportunities.Dr. Jennifer BrinsonJennifer BrinsonPrincipal
