Principal's Message
-
. 2020 - 2021
Welcome to Carl A. Furr Elementary School! The staff at Furr believes that all our students, parents, and staff are part of the ‘Furr Family.’ As one big family, we strive to take care of one another and do our absolute best to help everyone be successful.
Carl A. Furr Elementary is a true neighborhood school that first welcomed students in 2007-2008. Our school was named after Mr. Carl Augustus Furr, Sr. who served as Superintendent of Cabarrus County Schools from 1939 to 1965.
I’ve had the pleasure of serving as principal at Furr since January of 2011. There are many things I love about our school. Amongst those would be the diversity of our students and the tremendous support we receive from our parents and the school community.
Furr is the proud home of the first language immersion program in Cabarrus County Schools! We began our Spanish immersion program in the 2013-14 school year when 48 students’ parents chose to have them learn in both English and Spanish during their kindergarten year. Since then our program has been very successful and it has grown to include all grade levels, K-5, and we have over 400 students who participate in the program annually. Because of the program, we have been fortunate to hire many wonderful teachers from other countries including: Colombia, Chile, Spain, Costa Rica, and El Salvador. They infuse our school with aspects of their cultures and customs, which adds the rich diversity at Furr.
We here at Carl A. Furr Elementary look forward to serving you and taking care of you as a member of the Furr Family!
Sincerely,
Mr. Darin Roberts
