My name is Mrs. Gretchen Baute and this is my 10th year teaching.  I'm very excited to be teaching 2nd grade at Hickory Ridge Elementary.  I have worked at Rocky River Elementary as a Title 1 Tutor and as a 2nd grade teacher.   Before that I taught for 5 years at Patriots STEM Elementary School in first and second grades.  I also taught for two years in Burlington, NC in fourth grade before having my first child. 

My husband Brian and I have been married for 24 years and have four children.  Cameron, 21, is a Senior at Lenoir Rhyne University.  Kierstin, 19, is a sophmore at UNCC. Raegan, 17, is a senior at Hickory Ridge High School and Caedon, 15, is a freshman at Hickory Ridge High School.  We have lived in the Charlotte area for over 12 years and love it!  I am originally from Indiana and graduated from Indiana State University with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Special Education.  Oh the places we will go this year Cowboys!!
