    Tomato Winkler Horticulutre Club has Heirloom Tomato plants for sale!  They are $4.00 per plant.  Varities include German Johnson, St. Pierre, German Lunchbox, Dr. Wyches Yellow and Herndersons Winsall.  Pickup is available at school.  Email Mr. Joe Hudson for more information by clicking here.


    Congratulations to Winkler Middle for winning the volleyball championship vs. Harris Road.  It was a hard fought battle by both teams!

    In order for students to receive proper instruction it is essential they arrive to class on time every day.  Winkler Middle will begin implementing a new Tardy Policy.  For more information please click here.

      mrs mann Congratulations to our Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Mann!  Winkler is proud of all of her accomplishments and her dedication to our students.  Mrs. Mann currently teaches 6th grade ELA.



    Winkler has collected slightly used jeans to help the needy!  Thank you for helping us by donating your slightly used jeans.  Our Honor Society students organized this fund raiser and collected over 71 pairs!

    Race The HWMS History Club enjoyed the movie Race: The Jesse Owens Story at the Concord Mills AMC Theatre over the weekend.  This club is led by 7th grade Social Studies teacher David James and strives to bring the love of history out of the classroom and into the community.

     Grand Rounds Our 7th Grade students finished their Grand Rounds presentations last week.  Through intense research and problem solving skills our students diagnosed and determined proper treatment of ailments.  We were featured in the Independent Tribune!  Click here to read our article.

    sarah and karen Congratulations to Mrs. Powell and Mrs. Jones, 6th grade Math/Science teachers.  These wonderful teachers were recognized at the CCS board meeting for completing the district Teacher Leadership program!

     8th Grade Girls Basketball Congratulations to the 8th Grade Girls Basketball team.  The ladies made it to the finals this year!  We did not win, but had a great season!  Way to go ladies!


     James Congratulations Mr. James!  He has won Teacher of the Week through FSI Office contest!  We are very proud of Mr. James and his accomplishement.  Thank you for voting!

    PowerSchool Parent Portal Update
    It's already half-way through the second quarter!  We will not be sending home paper copies of Progress Reports.  Parent Portal is an easy way to montior your child's grades.   If you have an account from last year, the username and password should still workClick here for more information.  Our District Code is HXBT.

     Ms. Blue Congratulations Mrs. Blue, our Teacher Assistant of the Year!

    Winkler Middle School was awarded Model Status for our implementation of Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports by NCDPI.  In order to earn Model status Winkler had to meet state implementation criteria and have universal expectations in place.  Winkler has been implementing PBIS for 4 years and we are excited to move from Green Ribbon status to Model status this year.

    Softball Champs Our softball team won the Championship game vs. Mt. Pleasant .  It was an exciting ending with Winkler on top finishing 8-7.  Great job ladies!


    Congratulations Officer Nichols

    Officer Nicholls 2015 Award Congratulations Officer Nichols!  He was recently recognized for completing the School Resource Officer Certificate Program.   This program requires more than 400 classroom hours!  We appreciate his dedication to both the staff and students here at Winkler.  Thank you Officer Nichols for going above and beyond!
