CONGRATULATIONS CCHS CLASS OF 2013!!!

FRESHMEN ORIENTATION

Rising Freshmen: Join us for Freshmen Orientation on Thursday, August 22nd from 2pm-6pm. Teachers and upperclassmen want to celebrate the beginning of high school with YOU, our rising 9th graders! Plan to attend the entire event to learn about high school, make new friends, receive your finalized class schedule, and find your classrooms to prepare for the first day of school!

Parents: Parents can drop off students at the front circle. Freshmen should enter CCHS through the front entrance and meet in our lobby, Norse Cove. Casual dress is recommended. No other items are needed. Plan to stay the entire time.

CCHS freshmen only, please. Parent open house will be held from 6:00 to 7:00 pm.

STEM SUMMER CAMP FOR ALL STUDENTS updated: May 28, 2013

CCHS STEM is thrilled to extend a summer camp opportunity to ALL students in grades 9-12.  Some of our most enthusiastic teachers have teamed up to create a summer camp like no other.  Students will have two weeks of hands-on, minds-on learning experience that revolves around Science, Technology, Design, Photography, and Mathematics.  This camp is meant to enhance student's creativity while teaching them real world skills. COMMON EXAM INFORMATION updated: May 24, 2013

The NC Department of Public Instruction is introducting a new measure of student learning called the Common Exam. Cabarrus County Schools will be implementing the common Exams during the final weeks of the 2012-2013 school year.

The Common Exams were developed by NC teachers and are based on the Common Core and Essential Standards which define what is taught in different classes and courses. The exams will follow a format similar to the new End of Grade and End of Course assessments. Students will be asked to answer both multiple choice and short answer questions prompting them to use higher-level thinking skills. Cabarrus County students will be taking the Common Exams in May and June using paper and pencil administrations.

 

At the high school level, Common Exams will be given for the following subjects:

-English Language Arts I, III, and IV

-OCS English Language Arts I, III, and IV

-AlgebraII/Integrated Math III

-Geometry

-Pre-Calculus

-Advanced Functions and Modeling

-OCS Intro Math

-OCS Financial Mgmt.

-Physical Science

-Chemistry

-Physics

-Earth/Environmental Science

-OCS Applied Science

-World History

-Civics and Economics

-US History
